The day of clodhopping sh** kickers is in the past for hikers. And, man, it feels good not to have blisters every time I hit the trail!
Before I bought my light weight, oh-so-comfortable Hi-Tec Hiking Boots, I wore classic stiff leather, steel toed monster boots. They weighed a ton, roasted my feet, and left blisters in new places every time I wore them. I spent more time limping than hiking.
Hi-Tec's use of waterproof suede leather and nylon uppers and soft cushioned interiors makes pulling on a boot like putting your feet in a pillow. Despite all this cushiness, the shoes hold my feet and heel firmly in place and protect my ankles when I'm walking through rocky fields, climbing boulders or traversing chunks of smooth granite. I've used mine everywhere from sand-and rock-strewn deserts, muddy mountain hiking trails, and climbing over boulders and along granite ridges, and they've pulled me through every time. It's as if the deeply treaded bottoms are grabbing the trail to keep me safe.
The lacing system lets me tie the boots low for added breathability in less rugged terrain and high for added ankle stability in a more rugged landscape. In years, I've never found a blister. Pair these boots with good synthetic socks, and you shouldn't either.
Hi-Tec is always changing styles, but the basic, smart design remains true. I'll stick with this brand as long as they continue to make great boots.
Stylish and extremely light weight, Hi-Tec's line of hiking boots get you there. The styles change constantly. My Adirondack version, shown in these photos, is no longer available. But one thing remains true: Hi-Tec always has a model that combines ruggedness with comfort. In years of wearing them, I'm always impressed by how they get me over tough terrain without me ever being aware I'm wearing boots.
Hi-Tec uses waterproof, breathable nylon in the upper, so your feet won't roast. The lacing system allows you to tie your boots low and loose on smooth terrain and high and tight to protect your ankles on uneven or rocky surfaces.
